Chair’s Corner – May 2010

The final dinner event of the season was held on May 20th and was a resounding success. Many thanks to Armand Mintanciyan and our Program Chair Mike Ahmadi for their presentation on the Quality Professional in a Mobile World. It’s truly amazing to hear how technology has advanced and how this and the next generation of professionals are so closely tied to their mobile devices.

As this was the final dinner event, it also marks the end of the 2009-2010 season and my term as chair for the East Bay Section 0618. I would like to thank all of our members for their support and participation throughout this season. I would also like to thank every member of the Board of Directors for their hard work and dedication in making this past year a success. It was my intention to bring fresh ideas to entice all of our members (new and existing) and I believe we were very successful in providing more varied and exciting topics and venues. We’ve also made great strides in promoting our section, including proposing a scholarship named after our section founder, James Kohnen. Once approved by ASQ National, our scholarship will be able to give back to our communities and that’s just one of the many ideas we’ve established and will continue to assess in the coming 2010-2011 season.

Finally, just because I am stepping down as Chair does not mean that I will be going away altogether. I will continue to serve as a member of the Board of Directors next season and will help out in any way the section requires. See you all next season!
